Install Internet Explorer 8 on Ubuntu Linux using PlayOnLinux

Steps to install Internet Explorer 8 on Ubuntu Linux using PlayOnLinux

Steps:

  1. Install PlayOnLinux on Ubuntu
  2. Run PlayOnLinux
  3. Prepare Internet Explorer 8 installation from PlayOnLinux
  4. Install Internet Explorer 8
  5. Run Internet Explorer 8

1. Install PlayOnLinux on Ubuntu

2. Run PlayOnLinux

Go to Start and type “playonlinux”. Click on the shortcut.

3. Prepare Internet Explorer 8 installation from PlayOnLinux

Click on “Install a program”. Wait until list is full.
Go to internet and select “Internet Explorer 8”. Click on “Install”.
Follow instructions in PlayOnLinux Internet Explorer 8 Installation Wizard.
It will request you to install Mono and Gecko on your system. Install all of them.

Accept Terms & Conditions when installing Microsoft fonts.

Wait until package is downloaded.

4. Install Internet Explorer 8

Then the actual Internet Explorer 8 installation will start.

Choose “I do not want to participate right now” and click “Next”.

Click “I accept” to accept license terms.

Ensure “Install updates” is marked and click “Next”.

Wait until installation is finished.

Click “Restart now (recommended)”. DO NOT REBOOT YOUR OWN LINUX COMPUTER.

5. Run Internet Explorer 8

Double-click on “Internet Explorer 8” program on PlayOnLinux screen.

Complete setup wizard during first run or click “Ask me later”.
