G.723.1: used for internet audio.

G.711

G.711 has higher audio quality than G.723.1.

G.728

G.728 is an ITU-T standard for speech coding, being the the one that takes more bandwidth.

G.728A has a sampling frequency of 16 kbits per second.

It has higher audio quality than G.723.1.

G.722

G.722: even higher audio quality than G.711 and G.728.

G.729

G.729.

MPEG: requires lots of CPU processing and adds too much delay, so it is valid for stored video but not for live video.
