How to get the Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate Certification

Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (from now on, MCASEA) is a certification issued by Microsoft.

It is an associate certification (level 2 out of 3) within the Microsoft certification scale.

This certification was available from at least 2022, and its current as of 2024.

Prerequisites to obtain the MCASEA Certification

To obtain MCAF certification, you need to achieve the following goals:

  1. Pass exam AZ-500

No professional experience is required to obtain MCAF.

Recommend prerequisites:

  • Being familiar with Microsoft Azure

Obtaining Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals certification (MCAF), that requires passing AZ-900 exam, would be an optional and convenient previous step. You can read more about MCAF on this post.

Preparing exam AZ-500

Passing AZ-500 exam “Microsoft Azure Security Technologies” is a prerequisite to get MCASEA.

AZ-500 Cost

As of March 2024, performing AZ-500 exam costs 165 USD.

MCASEA Expiration

MCASEA expires after 2 years, but there are ways to extend it.

Maintaining MCASEA

You can renew MCAF by preparing refresh course.
