Data Centers

A data processing center (DPC) or data center is a building, a dedicated space within a building, or a group of buildings used to house computer systems and associated components, such as telecommunications and storage systems.

Hyperconvergent Infrastructure (HCI) combines computing, storage and network.

Air-based

Direct Expansion

Direct Expansion (DX) is a type of air-conditioning system that removes heat from a space through evaporation and condensation of a refrigerant. The refrigerant absorbs the heat in the air, such as the heat generated by IT equipment in a network closet or other IT space, and then ultimately rejects the heat outdoors.

It is simple and economical, suitable for a small data center.

Condensation in a cooling tower

Condensation in a cooling tower uses a cooling tower to condense and remove heat from a system, often employed in industrial and HVAC applications.

They are more efficient but require more investment.

Centralized air management systems

Centralized air management systems controls and distributes air throughout a facility from a central unit to optimize cooling efficiency.

Low-pressure air delivery

Low-pressure air delivery (in Spanish, entrega de aire a baja presiĆ³n) supplies cooled air at a lower pressure to reduce energy consumption and improve airflow control.

Aisle containment

Aisle containment (in Spanish, cerramiento de pasillo) encloses hot or cold aisles in data centers or server rooms to improve cooling efficiency and prevent air mixing.

Hot/cold aisle techniques

Hot/cold aisle techniques in arranges server racks in alternating hot and cold aisles to enhance airflow management and cooling effectiveness.

Free-cooling

Free-cooling is utilizes cool ambient air to lower the temperature of a system, reducing reliance on mechanical cooling and improving energy efficiency.

Rack-enclosure

Rack-enclosure (in Spanish, cerramiento de bastidores) A containment system around IT equipment racks to optimize airflow, enhance cooling efficiency, and prevent hot and cold air mixing.

It may be used in an HPC with special needs.

Water-based

There are water-based systems.

Data Center Certifications

ANSI TIA-942 is a certification issued by ANSI. You can find more information about this certification on this link.

Data Center Security

Uninterruptible Power System (UPS).

Generator.

Power distribution unit (PDU) is used to get power to server and systems and to control and monitor it.

Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) is the energy efficiency of a data center.
