Log in Canvas LMS (Learning Management System).
Create a course, and then in the right hand side you can find a button “Import existing content”.
Canvas LMS supports the following formats:
- QTI .zip file (1.2 and 2.1)
- Moodle 1.9 / 2.x
- Blackboard Learn
- 2EdTech’s Common Cartridge
- D2L’s Brightspace
- ANGEL
Importing Quizzes from a QTI 1.2 or 2.1 file to Canvas
Canvas supports QTI versions 1.2 and 2.1.
The reference applications to create QTI files according to Canvas are:
- Respondus 4.0
- Blackboard Learn
- Moodle (≤2.0)
Moodle no longer supports QTI, but earlier versions did.
Both Respondus and Blackboard Learn are paid software.
As of June 2024, you can find an example of 2.2 file on the 1EdTech example repository. It would be the file items.zip.
If you go to Canvas, select “QTI .zip file” and upload the items.zip file, it would upload with some errors.
