When tackling with the configuration for DNIe card readers, it is possible that you need to undo changes and reset configuration to start from scratch and try a different approach. These are some steps that must be done.
1. Remove certificates related to DNIe from Windows
Go to Start, type “certmgr.msc” and click on the program (Windows 7) or go to Run and execute the same command (prior versions).
Click on the folders to display the certificates installed. Find those that may be related to the DNIe, select them and press “Supr” to remove them.
Those certificates that may be installed during the DNIe configuration are:
- AC RAIZ DNIE
- AC RAIZ FNMT-RCM
- AC DNIE 001 (from 001 to 003)
- FNMT Clase 2 CA
- AV DNIE FNMT
- AV DNIE MINHAP
The folders where these certificates are found are:
- Trusted Root Certification Authorities / Entidades de certificación de raíz de confianza
- Certificates / Certificados
- Intermediate Certification Authorities / Entidades de certificación intermedias
- Certificates / Certificados
- Third-Party Root Certification Authorities / Entidades de certificación de terceros
- Certificates / Certificados
- Other People / Otras personas
- Certificates / Certificados
2. Uninstall the DNIe configuration using the Wizard
Run the DNIe installation Wizard for Windows (that can be downloaded from this link), repeat the installation process, and in the last step click on “Uninstall DNIe”
Follow the instructions to uninstall.
3. Uninstall drivers for card readers
Go to Control Panel > Uninstall programs (depending on the Windows version), and look for a program related to the card reader. If this is the case, select the program related to the card reader driver and then click on “Uninstall”. Follow the instructions to uninstall.
The other possibility is to go the Control Panel > Device Administrator. Find the card reader device whose driver you want to uninstall, right click and select “Properties”, go to “Driver” tab and click on “Unistall”. You must be Admin to perform this operation.
